However during the Communist Revolution in China they were the ones trying to take power from the nationalist party. This war was fought while the Soviet Union was in power and they were fighting to defend this power. In Russia the war was fought against the white army who was made up of a random put together group of anti-communists. Another difference between the 2 countries was the civil wars that both took part in to keep communism alive. An example of the hostility that the Chinese and Soviet Union had towards each other was the Sino-Soviet border conflict in 1969 when the Soviet Union and China had an undeclared war/military conflict. However eventually Mao let Nixon visit once the Soviet Union became a bigger threat/rival than the US. The Chinese isolated themselves from the rest of the world and their only ally was the Soviet Union but even then they ended up fighting with each other after losing shared views on certain things. The Russians unlike the Chinese took part in diplomacy even if it wasn't much. The Russians were a huge power that was feared by many countries like Germany and Austria-Hungary. (in short: the difference in relationships with other countries(rus=power house that was feared and took part in some diplomacy, china=isolated and only friend is rus until they disagree and then near the end of life Mao is friend with USA and enemy with rus)(the 2 different civil wars they took part in, rus=they ruled the country and were putting down rebellion, china=they were backstabbed by nationalists and had to defeat them to rule ex.long march)-One key difference between the Russian Revolution and the communist revolution in china is both countries relationship with foreign countries. At the start of the long March Mao was rather weak but by the end of the march he was named chairman of the CCP. However one of these defenses failed and he was replaced with another leader. He was using guerrilla warfare to defend and defeat the nationalists whenever they came to try to take out the CCP once and for all.
China's leader Mao was a leader in the CCP. Finally Lenin struck and created the Soviet Union with the help of the bolsheviks. However once he was back he was initially turned away as a German spy because of his April Thesis but eventually gained the trust as time went on. Lenin was exiled and could not come back to Russia until Tsar Nicholas II abdicated the throne. Another key similarity between the two countries was they both had leaders who were distrusted by the people for a short time and came back to lead their country into communism. The peasants blindly followed Mao because he had given them freedom they hadn't had before. Mao got their support by redistributing the land that all the old landlords had to all the peasants and encouraged them to steal from and kill landlords, nationalists, warlords, and anyone opposing the CCP. In China the peasants had bad living conditions and Mao promised to change that and to give them land and the power to rule their own country.
These peasants lived in unsanitary living conditions and this pushed them to want change and Lenin used this to gain popularity and power. In Russia the peasants were moved into the cities because of the growing amount of jobs from industrialization and the lack of food in the countryside. (in short: peasants were focus of rev and they needed something->rev)(both of the leaders lost popularity/power and came back to become leaders) -One key similarity between the Russian Revolution and the communist revolution in China is that they were both supported by the peasants.
